Snuggly at home!

These are the things that I truly appreciate! Just spending time at home with my wife! Snuggling up in bed and mucking around with Nanuk and Nami!

I'd like to have more of these moments!

BeBe - XiaoHan's super funny cute ShihTzu!

The last two weeks, I have been to XiaoHan's home and Uncle William has been very hospitable! He is helping me make a few business shirts and pants.

Went to buy some fabric thru Uncle William's contact's and they are pretty decent and fairly priced.

Fabric shop is located at Blk 10 North Bridge Road on the 2nd floor.

Of course, the star of today's post is BeBe! She is a 4 year old ShihTzu! Damn cute!

Fw: Complaint - No Parking Infringement

I usually let things sit. But after numerous days pushing bikes so I can exit from the bike lot has pushed me to write to HDB to look into this matter.

Good thing is that the response to my complaint was worked on within 3-4 hours.

I could have did what James suggested, let these car 'permanently' sit these by letting the air out its 4 tyres!

Hope they install something sooner than later.

Subject: Complaint - No Parking Infringement

To whom it may concern,

I would like to bring to your attention a regular infringement (daily) causing immense inconvenience to bikers like myself.

I have left numerous notes to the 'offending' car owners, to highlight the inconvenience, however, every night, a different car is parked there.

This is taking place in front of Blk 303 Shunfu Rd. The location is where bike lots no. 168 are.

Bikers like myself have to shift/move other bikes so that we may exit the lot due to illegal parking of cars. They are usually parked overnight and do not leave early in the morning.

I do not want to move other bikes so I can exit from the bike lots, in case of any damages, nor do I want others to move my bike to exit.

The town council can install suitable bar/pole to prevent car from parking in those 'No Parking' lots. The bar should not restrict big bikes from moving in and out.

If you need to get in touch with me, I can be reached at 81117775. I expect this to be looked into and follow up on.

Attached are pictures of the location and said infringement.

With regards,

Jonathan Lee

Caved in - **Blackberry BOLD**

I finally gave in and got myself a Blackberry!

The first day was pretty overwhelming not know what to do with it...but once the data plan got going... everything was a breeze.

It is packed with everything and anything you want to work on....emails, Facebook, web surfing, Starhub TV ( great when you can watch soccer even when attending Moka's wedding last night!!)

Now i'll monitor the bills even though it is capped at SGD36.

Still getting used to the BB functions, messaging and learning the QWERTY keyboard.
Blogging here is so much easier with the previous post being emailed directly from my BB. The picture quality ain't too bad. So hope i have fewer excuses on why i dun update here.

She hit the ground hard!!!

My poor Fernie, on her second practical, where she did really well by riding and controlling the bike. She got advanced to move onto the main circuit instead of the baby circuit for beginners. I believe she did better than the guys who were in the same class.

However, in her first round after the first corner, her group of 3 riders entered the 2nd corner and only to realise that 2 came out of it. Someone did not emerge.... and i was praying to it was not her, my wife!

But after keeping my fingers crossed... alas it was really her. I noticed a frantic dash to the fallen rider by her instructor whom i do not find any fault with nor with the instructors present. They helped her out and also checked that she was fine to continue. It was Fernie who insisted even after falling HARD on her right shoulder that she wanted to continue.

I watched her as she rode by and she looked fine though a little flustered.,,, the second round she came by i noticed that her nose was reds and her eyes were watery.... but she pressed on. OMG... this girl is really strong and even in pain she decides to continue. Talk about the perserverance and determination she has!!

When the lesson ended, many instructors came by and spoke with me and Fernie and checking that she is fine. I asked her if she is well and if her arm/ shoulder could be raised and she insisted she was fine.

She did cry and poured her heart and fear out to me.... i could only give her words of encouragements and held her close to me. ***Poor Girl**** she must have been traumatised!!

*************I remember falling on the third day i got my Class 2B bike where i scrapped my knuckles, arms. knees, wrists..... i remember picking myself up and the bike and riding in the cold night wind with sand and gravel in my open wounds. The wind blew with a piercing pain onto my arms and knuckles. I went straight to a Petrol kiosk to wash off the gravel but some were still stuck in the fresh open wound...only then i dared to call my parents to tell them what has happened.***************

Back to my wife, she cried all the way home while on my bike and i could understand why. She is definately scared.... i was thinking in my heart that this could be the last i am taking her for bike lessons. But i would let her decide on this and not push her in anyway...... if she doesnt want to continue... then she wont continue. It is her decision.

It was confirmed by another instructor of what happened and also confirmed by Fernie, she was not looking far in the distance but she concentrated her line of sight onto a curb and naturally, she rode towards it. Being scared and new to riding, she jammed her front brakes resulting in a locked front wheel which sent the front sliding. btw the rest of the other intructors thought that she was on lesson three!!

I really think she has done extremely well in the lessons so far and was very very brave of her to continue her riding even after her fall.

Just for the records she has a huge shoulder scrape, her right knee has six bruises...Orr Chnee.... on her left thigh a huge blue black the size of a cashcard. Bleah.

I really felt for her but she has decided that she wants to continue with her lessons. She said it herself that she wants to overcome this fear of that corner and wants to "beat" it and challenges herself to complete this riding course and get her license!!

As i type this she is reading up on the course for practical lessons...so she knows what to expect.

BTW..... she passed her Practical 1.02 even when she fell..... what she was doing on the main course was actually Practical 1.03~~~~!!!! She'll be taking that soon!

Updates on Fernie's Class 2B progress.

In two days, 7-8th May 2009, Fernie completed all her Theory lessons that were needed for this her bike lessons.

She will now need to take her Riding Theory Test and also able to go straight to her practical lessons 1-4.

Her enthusiasm is sky high and has been asking me heaps on how the bike works, how to handle it, how to operate it. We talked about riding defensively, how to be careful...etc etc.....

I think when she does get out on the road, i will pillion and see how she rides. More importantly i have to restrain from being a "back seat rider" and stop myself from adding unnecessary comments and let her do her stuff the way she knows how to.

I promise i will do my very very best to keep my mouth shut and i know she has all the confidence and ability to ride well!!

I believe Fernie will be taking her first practical on Tuesday, 12th May 2009.... i will bring the DSLR to add the pics.

Fernie has officially enrolled for her Class 2B!!!

The first day Fernie registered for her riding. She has enrolled for Class 2B and just to enrol it would have cost her SGD 42.83. This last for 1 year and renewable every 6mths. Theory lessons would have cost SGD 8.03 per lesson and there are a total of 2 Basic Theory and 2 Riding Theory lessons where she sits in to listens to a 1hour 40mins lecture.

Practical lessons would cost another SGD 22 thereabouts and the peak hour lessons goes another SGD 2 more, at SGD 24. There are a total of 8 lessons before her Practical test and then she will be a qualified Class 2B rider. It has also been said that these lessons will take an average fo 13 instead of the 8. They will usually try to "find fault" and make you take extras lessons.

Our plan was to get her a bike license so that she can understand and enjoy the riding experience together with the rest of the family. If she completes this, it will be a great achievement. I believe she can easily do this as she has shown exemplary talent in riding Wen Long's bike when we were in JB!! If she completes this, i will probably look into buying her a scooter or a kup kia (X1 or X1R). Something small and economical so that i can use it too.

As i type this, she is actually in a Theory lesson now and it seems that she does not need to attend them in sequence. I have been told that she can also attend the practical lessons 1 to 4, but she will have to pass her provisional riding test before she is allowed onto the public roads.

I remembered when i first took my lessons at the very same Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC), that was a good 16years ago in 1993!! I remembered i did not have to go onto the public road to complete my test to get a license. I passed on 14 Feb 1994 for the Class 2B, so it took me 3-4 months to get the Class 2B.

I will continue to blog her progress and see how she copes. I know she is very excited and seems to be loving the whole experience. If she ever passes her Class 2, maybe one day we can ride up to Thailand together or even Laos/China...... who knows.... as long as she is happy.

Penang - 2009 Good Friday Long Weekend, 10-12 April 2009

This trip has been okt'd by me!

I have organised and booked for this trip to happen, the only reason why i wanted to go for this trip was that approximately 1 year back, i missed this trip due to some unfortunate events that my family were uneasy for me to go alone! I remembered it was a a series of bad luck and crazy events!!

We met at 6am on Friday morning and even had to remind Melvin with a wake up call at 5am. He was already up when i rang.

My wife, Fernie has agreed to join me for this trip, this will be her furthest ride where the furthest before was to Kien Hian's home in KL and then a return leg through Desaru for the day trip last month!!!

I was half worried that it wont be a fun for her as it is for me when it comes to riding. For this trip, she even prepared herself with a Dainese Goretex Swan jacket... so now she is fully geared for a touring ride to anywhere!!

Thank god this ride was completed on the BMW R1200 GS Adventure... i hope it made the ride a lot better for her!!

Here she is on the bike and taking pictures along the way. We only stopped at Ayer Keroh which was 210km there abouts. I am surprised with Fernie's endurance and never complained but instead talked her way throughout and at times sang for me to hear!

These were the stops we made for everyone to rest, recharge and top up.

1) Ayer Keroh RSA (210km) - some of the guys had breakkie there/
2) Tapah RSA
3) Simpang Pulai - We had lunch there.
4) Penang Bridge

Marcus was the lead bike together with Jimmy where they was the front men leading the pack. I was the sweeper, trying to keep the convoy together and making sure Melvin's TMax made the ride safely. But he held out well... though he admitted he nearly nodded off on some stretches..... *tsk* *tsk*....

We got to Penang Bridge and we made an illegal stop to get these pictures. I thought My wife looked great with her gear!! With her smiley face, i knew the ride wasn't so bad afterall. But credits to her to stay with me all the way to Penang and with great spirits!!!

The Classic Pose by the gang.... ULTRAMAN!!! That is Marcus' ST11.....

Beauty and the Beast.....

Wahahha... i look really slim in this picture...that is why i used it in my Faceboook as a profile pic!! Loved the bike... loved the ride more... together with my wife!

This is the sight that greeted us when we entered the hotel's lobby. We stayed at Tanjung Bungah Beach Resort, it was only SGD67 per night with a sea view room!!! Cheap and good!!

All the helmets on the lobby's table.... from right to left...lollypop's, Marcus', Melvin's, Corrine's and Fernie's.

From left to right:- Melvin, Marcus, Me, Lollypop and Wayne.

We checked in slept for an hour and came down for our new challenge - Gurney Drive!!

Its been told by the hotel driver that the place has significantly changed since the tsunami in Jan 2005 where the disaster took around 50++ lives on this island. The beach and shoreline of this island has changed forever. There seems to be land reclamation as well that has led the sea bed around the island to alter drastically.
I remember coming to Penang when i was 10-12yo and my sister and i played on the beaches, the waves were great and huge like the ones on the better beaches around the world, Bondi/Maroubra...etc etc.... now its only a trickle of wave onto the shoreline. The white sand beaches became full of sea shells and walking along the beach is no longer the same.
Back to Gurney Drive - mom came to Penang when she was younger and remembered the the Gurney food place was along the beach and the sstalls were push carts selling the nicest food. From Penang Char Kway Teow, Penang Laksa to Ikan Bakar and Sotong Bakar...... its gone now and its replace by what you see below... a food court of sorts.
It rained after our meal and the place sprouted with umbrellas and people still ate under the umbrellas and rain.... a nice sight!

The highlight of this eating experience was this stall - Pasembor Rojak. The guy selling this... sang and danced while he serves you. Nice fella and he is there to entertain. He did this little extra to great effect... nothing sleazy but i will remember this for a long time to come! Kudos to him!
Fernie took a short video of him... singing and dancing..... wahahahha

Below is the result and product of this gentleman!! It is yummy!! Must try and must see!!

Which is more yummy??

After eating to our fill... Jimmy disappeared and came back with this packet of fried stuff. Upon inspection, i realised that this is a deep fried packet of evil tasting food!
ITS DEEP FRIED CHICKEN SKIN!! Deep Fried Liver...Deep Fried Chicken backside (parsons nose)...deep fried Giblet..... wah...drools.... damn damn nice... simple things like these can be turned into delicacies..... i can still remember the taste as i type this a weekend later!

As mentioned earlier, it was raining/storming after our dinner, together with mom and dad, we headed back to our hotel and rooms respectively and showered..... Fern and i were knocked out and even the lightning show outside our window did not interest us..... (Yes.. lightning and thunder show just right at our window which was facing the sea.

We woke at 9am and went down for the breakfast included with the rooms.... YES.... SGD67 and it came with 2 buffet breakfast!! Food was so so... nothing much to shout about but does its job with filling our tummys.
The guys spent the night late into the morning and with the thunderstorm, they too headed back to the hotel and drank at the bar downstairs! I believed they had fun and were smashed.

We met everyone at the breakfast table and decided to get dressed and ready for a day trip to Penang Hill!! So we got back to our room, grabbed our helmets and decided that all of us to ride in "summer wear"...which is berms and tees..... and slippers..... wahahhaha

We waited for the rest to come down and get ready for the ride. I decided to use the GPS as our guide to get the the places we wanted. Dunno where it'll take us but... let's try out this thing.

While we waited, Fernie took this!! Notice the waves breaking onto the shores are tiny..... they used to be huge!!!! We really need to conserve and protect the earth and environment. Yes Fernie.... i promise to recycle more.... save energy and do as much as i possibly can..... i too believe if everyone does their part... it can make that difference.

Summer wear parade...

Posing while we were at the traffic lights!!! Cameras Whores.....

First stop (after i "hollan'd" and brought everyone to the wrong side of the Penang Hill.... ho ho ho....!!!) was Kek Long Si Temple - this is a majestic temple sitting on the hill. The colors contrasted against the hills in the background. No where in the world we get this combination of colors..... beautiful!!

Beautiful day..... not too bad a shot with a normal digicam.

Look at the art work and colors..... these must have taken a long long time to make/create.

No...... the girls are NOT harassing Marcus and Syafiq!!

A happy family.... i love photos like these.... it just makes me wish Rachel, my younger sister was here as well!!

Again... the colors.......

This place is huge!!! Not as huge as the items in the photos u are going to see later as u scroll down.......

They even had a lift/tram to the top of the temple!!!

That Guanyin statue is HUGE!!!!

That's only a Bust of the Statue....

A photo i took with Fern's digicam while walking along Batu Ferrenghi.

In the evening after the Kek Long Si Temple ride, we met with Melvin's buddy, Lucas and his wife. He spoke with dad, mom and us for a while. Really nice couple and we realised that they lived in the same block here in Clementi as we did.... but they stayed at the other end of the block closer to the petrol station.
Lucas' wife lives and works in Penang and he drives up to Penang every weekend so that they can be together..... and i think that is really sweet! All the way driving 8-9 hours to see his loved one.

Lucas recommended that we head to Batu Ferrenghi for dinner as there are nice food and also a good Pasar Malam to walk.

This is me with Fernie after we spent the afternoon in the sun and beach where we played beach volleyball!! I looked burnt but healthy.... wahahhaha
The meal at Batu Ferrenghi was really good..... the food was good... the company's great... and in top og that.... there was soccer on the telly where Liverpool played Blacburn and won 4-0 (2 goals from Torres!!!!)

Here's Lucas and his wife! Melivin's the one on my right!!

We ended the night with me buying a Authentic Fake U-Boat watch which cost me MYR300...i like it coz it is chunky and big enough for my size and wrist.

Our ride back..... and towards Ipoh!! Nice corners and a tunnel to cap off the journey.

Fernie totally enjoyed this trip and i casually let on that Hatyai ia just another 1hour away........ i think we'll do a 3 Nations Ride with Fernie soon!!
I think she did great and she is truly a great sport for making this trip the best...coz i can share this with her! Really better than the 3 Nation Charity Ride i took last year.
Looking forward to more Adventures and Sweet Memories with you, my love!!! Thank you as always!!!

Melaka - World Heritage Site!!

Mom and Dad asked if i would be keen to join them for a short Melaka trip and i said yes (who wouldn't when i get a chance to ride!!)

We started rather early but still left SGP at about 7am. We took a real slow ride to Melaka. As usual, i topped up at GP Petronas and this time, my goal was to try to get to Melaka and back in ONE TANK!!!

So i topped up till it can take no more.... Off we went and i rode about 140km/h average. Nice pace.... along the way..mom took a few videos of us riding. We stopped at Pagoh as we wanted mom to stretch her legs but it seems like she did not really need it! That's good news... we are also "training" her for a longer ride to Penang this Easter LWE. I hope she will be able to enjoy rather than taking this as a chore/pain...

Oh yeah.. Fernie...u'll need to get used to longer rides too!!! But i know you'll be fine.

Got to the Melaka and had a look at Kings Hotel which is pretty far from the city but near the Ayer Keroh Toll (nearer the toll than Jonker Street) Ok place to stay but we had to ride into town in our gear so a little sianz....

We got to Nancy's Kitchen and the foods is really really good!! The Nonya Kuih, Buah Keluak, Popiah, Kuih Pie Ti, Nonya Chap Chai.... etc etc etc...

Next time we will buy the Nonya Chang!! Should be damn good too!!

As usual... always on the look out for nice bikes!! Thi sis a well taken care of "Antique" Its a Honda.... wonder if the owner rides it!

This is the near the Christ Church Melaka - honestly... i dont even know what this place is called but a lot of tourists gathered there with bazaars and shops around...

Of course, the Church......trying to be arty farty...

Another Arty Farty Shot of the sights........ all with a Sony Ericsson C902

Another angle of the place.

Nice or not har???the Phone Cam is not too bad with the right lightings, i guess.....

This is one of the adjacent streets along Jonker Street.... i guess they sell the paper cuttings and they used it to paint on the outside of the walls.

Jonker Street...starts in the evening and plenty of things to see... reminds me of Taipei's night markets... just nice... when Fernie is in Taipei when we were in Melaka this time round (she is there with her brother for a friend's wedding!!)

Welcome to Jonker Street!!

A Performance that is to take place in the evening... we did not have the heart to stay and watch since we were in riding gear.... bleah...

This is the Hotel i always wanted to stay - The Baba House hotel!!! Highly recommended for anyone who wants a cheap but culturally beautiful place to put up for the night! I love this place!!

Ample Parking at the back!! Damn Cool!!

Hotel Puri.... another alternative?? Its just across from Baba House!!

This is one of the restaurants... wonder how is food there but the decorations is really nice!! I feel Nonya/Baba/Peranakan!!!
Because of this place... i am thinking.... should Shunfu be decorated as such??? Hmmmmm....... comments???
Mom actually has videos..... i'll see if i can figure how to post them and add them here.... otherwise........ where is my wife??? Oh Yah.. she is in Taipei.....!!!
